We played our most important show of tour. We destroyed it. Essentially we played Whartscape, which was one of our dreams but technically, we played an after party in a warehouse loft. There were about 200 people crammed into the space and the energy was awesome. We got to play with Teenage Souls, Weekends, and InEveryRoom. Baltimore is forever thrash. Narwhalz was there! Here are some photos.
Tour is over! So sad. We will be posting a lot of stuff that we didn’t have time to on the road this week. Stay tuned.

Yellow Line… What’s Happenin’

Our first day off in D.C. was an eventful one. We woke up late in Stafford and drove through the beltway into the city. We did the whole mall tour thing on our bikes but all of the museums were closed, so we hopped on the METRO and went to Ben’s Chili Bowl. They have some great food there. On U Street we discovered that Sonic Youth was playing the 9:30 Club, met Religious Girls at the Velvet Lounge, and found out that Geologist from Animal Collective was DJing their show. We got back on the Metro and headed back to the car for Baltimore. When we got there we went on an adventure through the city before resting our heads at the Copyshop. I even found a nice bridge to traverse.

I had the worst burrito of my entire life last night in Baltimore. Imagine eating 15 bites worth of potpourri. My only salvation was the bowl of guacamole that I used to wash down the terrible Christmas taste overwhelming my taste buds. While the burrito may have been terrible, the show was pretty good. Hate Hugs from New York/Baltimore played a great set and demonstrated the Akai APC40. Their beats are awesome. Our power amp shut off halfway through cowboy, but came back in right at the end. The Matrimonials rocked out as I fixed the blog format. Oh yeah, the dudes from weekends came out and hooked us up with a Whartscape after party show. Sweet! Baltimore, we’ll be back. It is strange to see the end of tour approaching. I’m not going to know what to do.

Religious Girls
Sunday, July 5th, 2009
I feel the need to make a separate post about Religious Girls because their performance last night was that amazing. They are probably one of the best underground bands in the country. I would equate their music to what I hear in my head during the best daydreams and adventures. They could provide the perfect soundtrack to any post-apocalypse journey across tattered wastelands. Their blend of electronic drone, tribal drums, and group vocals mix expertly with their command of dynamics and meter change. I would recommend checking them out on their myspace. Here are some pictures of their show.
Greenville!
Sunday, July 5th, 2009
We just had the best show yet in Greenville, NC. We predicted that this would be the best show because it was on the fourth of July with Religious Girls. I am going to post a separate entry about Religious Girls because they are that awesome. We got to Greenville and were not expecting much initially until we met a couple characters around the house and got some foods from Checkers. It turns out that we were playing the last Spazz Haus show ever. This made the night even more epic. We played a great show, the energy from the crowd was great. It almost felt like we were playing in Murfreesboro with all of our friends. All the bands were great. There was SCRAM, SCRUM, and Religion. Hopefully the kids in Greenville can find another place to throw shows because we definitely want to return in the future. Going to Baltimore today, maybe we can find Dan Deacon and convince him to let us play his festival!
College Parks

We played a pretty sweet show in College Park, MD. After showing up and loading in, we went to Chipotle and got stuffed. When we got back to the house we had to do a double take, because we thought we saw someone who looked like Kenny Torrella. It was Kenny Torrella! He brought us some excellent banana chocolate chip muffins. All the bands we played with were pretty sweet, especially Weekends. Here are some photographs. Check out that Sunglasses tag!

Charlotte
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
We played the Yauhaus in Charlotte tonight. Bo hooked us up with this band Slave Matthew’s Hand. They were pretty rad. A lot of people showed up and really dug our set. After the show, we watched a beat-matched version of Indiana Jones and Andrew W.K. (at double speed). Both are shows in North Carolina were awesome. We are going to Virginia tomorrow. I get to see my mommydaddy!
